Heidy will present Understand my Brain to Understand my Behavior: Turning Trauma Research into Practice throughout the morning and The Language Progression to AVOID Power Struggles & BUILD Relationships: 10 Tools to Proactively Guide Kids These Days in the afternoon.  Heidy’s Soaring Balloons & Heavy Shackles book will be provided courtesy of the Area VI SEL Hub!

Understand my Brain to Understand my Behavior: Turning Trauma Research into Practice Objectives:

  • Leave with an understanding of how the brain works and strategies we can follow to help kids become available to learn & take care of ourselves at the same time
  • Focus on eight letters of the Social Emotional AlphabetTM partnered with brain-research to take away informed strategies & perspectives
  • Be able to discuss the needs of our kids and plan for those needs rather than blame things out of our control

The Language Progression to AVOID Power Struggles & BUILD Relationships: 10 Tools to Proactively Guide Kids These Days Objectives:

  • Take away 10+ tools to avoid power struggles
  • Learn language to build relationships and be able to lead difficult conversations around behavior
  • Continue to develop perspective that success looks different for every child

The session will be from 9:00am – 3:00pm with a catered, working lunch.
